Life in a Day? Whose Life?

This is a response to Felipe's post on the 'Life in a Day' project.
My bitter old man hat has been placed firmly upon my head, and here I go!
I think the 'Life in a Day' project is seriously flawed. I'm not trying to be a wet blanket on the filmmaking party, but I feel like we need to take some things into consideration.
Here are some reasons why I think this project is a good idea: it encourages people to make movies and express themselves, it promotes the idea that anybody can make a movie and that their stories are significant, and it gets people from across the world to connect through video. It might just be the largest number of people shooting film on the same day ever. That's pretty cool.
And here is why I think this project is bullshit. In my discussion, I'll separate the project in general from the feature film associated with it, as I see them as different levels of stupid.
